ADVOCACY & SUPPORTPromoting initiatives for change in public policy and expanded resources that lead to greater self-determination among persons who are blind or visually impaired. Services include Daily Living Skills and Peer Support Group Meetings. These meetings may include sessions on a variety of lively topics including legal affairs, entitlements, assistive living and the Arts. Workshops are lead by VISTAS and other facilitators from grassroots organizations, public agencies and the private sector. |

ORIENTATION & MOBILITYObjectives are to enable persons to travel safely and independently in all familiar and unfamiliar areas. Training includes: Pre-Cane Skills, Cane Instruction, Introduction to Residential Travel and Mixed Business/Commercial Travel. Consumer training is complete when the student is a safe and independent traveler in all familiar areas. Training may be extended. |
